Actress Jacqueline Fernandez has been embroiled in controversy ever since her relationship with alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar went public. Having been under investigation for her involvement in the Rs 200 crore money laundering case involving her alleged ex-boyfriend, she has continuously been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). According to recent media reports, she has now lodged a formal complaint with the Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, against the conman. As per her claims, he has been persistently harassing and threatening her despite being in jail.
As reported by Pinkvilla, the Housefull 2 actress penned a letter to the police chief expressing her concerns regarding the systematic failure towards witness protection. Fernandez emphasized in her letter her involvement in the case as a prosecution witness, that is currently under investigation by the special cell, she proceeded to describe the ‘psychological pressure and targeted intimidation,’ she has been facing. It was last December that the 38-year-old actress approached a Delhi court to seek immediate restrain on Sukesh Chandrashekhar as he was communicating to her through letters, messages, or statements. For the unversed, she is a witness in an FIR that is being investigated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police in the Rs 200 crore money-laundering and extortion case that is linked to Chandrashekar. She had stated that his intimidation tactics have caused her significant distress. Jacqueline stated that she fears he is contacting her with the intention of coercing her into withholding information from the court. As per the entertainment portal, she dispatched the letter from her official email address to the Police Chief and Special Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) at their respective email addresses, while she was on her travels. She went on to state, “These actions do not merely impinge upon my individual rights; they strike at the heart of our justice system. The principle of witness protection, which is fundamental to the administration of justice, has been compromised, undermining the credibility and efficacy of our legal institutions”
Jacqueline Fernandez has urged Commissioner Arora to launch a thorough and transparent investigation into how Sukesh Chandrashekhar can maintain external communication despite being in jail. It is to be noted that the officials have yet to respond to the actress’ queries.
For the unversed, Sukesh Chandrasekhar has been accused of running an extortion racket worth Rs 200 crore from the inside of Tihar jail. He reportedly duped people on the pretext of promising them jobs and is accused of cheating many people, including high-profile individuals such as former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh's wife, Aditi Singh, and Malvinder's wife Japna Singh, worth over several crores of rupees.
